The Skyrunning 2012 season had a double session this weekedn at the Dolomites, with the Trentino Vertical Kilometer (2,1k/D+1000m) on thursday and the Dolomites Skyrace (22k/D+1750m) on Sunday. The demanding VK did not have a spanish winner this time. Nevertheless, the skyrunners from below the Pyrenees took yet 5 of the top 10 spots, with Kilian Jornet and Mireia Miró up on the podium
The first skyrunning race of this weekend’s intensive World Series programme climbed a vertical kilometre skywards in the Italian Dolomites this morning. The unforgiving ascent had Nejc Kuhar from Slovenia, first in 33’33”, Antonio Saul Padua from Colombia, second in 33’52” and Spain’s Kilian Jornet, third in 34’03”.
In the women’s field, Italy’s Antonella Confortola, past winner and today’s favourite was first in 40’05”, and Spain’s Mireia Mirò and Blanca Maria Serrano, in 42’45” and 43’34” respectively. Record holder Urban Zemmer (33’16”) was absent due to injury.
